That's a W
Jack Wilson saved the Bucs Opening Day with a three-run, two-out double in the ninth against closer Jason Motte to beat St. Louis 6-4. Motte gave up a total of four runs with Freddy Sanchez and Eric Hinske both hitting doubles in the same inning.
Starter Paul Maholm went 6 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and two runs (one earned). Reliever Tyler Yates came in for Maholm and gave up a two-run homerun to Ryan Ludwick. Lefty John Grabow eventually got the win and Matt Capps got his first save.
Left fielder Nyjer Morgan, coming off a rough spring, went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Nate McLouth went 0-for-3 with 2 BB and 2 SO, while Adam LaRoche hit 2-for-5. Wilson was 0-for-4 before his clutch at-bat.
Can anyone say 162-0?
